Non-Ablative Transvaginal Radiofrequency in the Treatment of Stress Urinary Incontinence: Review of the Literature

Background: Urinary incontinence is defined as the involuntary loss of urine, which can affect up to 45% women after menopause. Radiofrequency a non-invasive procedure that involves application an electromagnetic wave through heat generation promotes neocollagenesis and neoeslatinogenesis in vaginal epithelium. This energy-based technology has been studied potential alternative for treatment genitourinary syndrome menopause urinary incontinence. Objective: To review recent literature (from 2020 June 2022) on use transvaginal radiofrequency stress incontinence, by searching articles at databases Capes, PubMed Cochrane Scielo. Methods: The descriptor terms “Urinary Incontinence/therapy” [Majr] AND Incontinence, Stress/therapy” RADIOFREQUENCY-Search Results-PubMed, [“woman” OR “women”] [“urinary incontinence” “stress incontinence”] were used, with filter period 2022. Conclusion: studies evaluated this demonstrated significant results resolution or reduction complaints especially but most these presented low methodological quality. There is, therefore, lack longer follow-ups, evaluation cost-effectiveness, randomized clinical trials objective outcomes validated questionnaires international acceptance.
